Renewal of Practising Certificate

Information on the application guide and requirements of renewing the Practising Certificate.

Pursuant to Section 3 of the Allied Health Professions Act (“Act”), AHPs must be registered and have a valid PC to be considered a duly qualified Allied Health Professional. It is an offence under Section 29(1)3 of the Act to practise without a valid PC and any person who is guilty shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $25,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both and, in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding $50,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both.

Overview

All registered Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) who wish to practise in Singapore need to have in force a valid Practising Certificate. The prescribed fees include an application fee of SGD20 and a practising fee of SGD140 per year or part thereof.

For the renewal of Practising Certificate, the application shall be made no later than 30 days before the expiration of the Practising Certificate.  A late application fee of SGD100 shall be charged for late renewal applications.

Application guide

All applicants are required to submit their application for renewal of Practising Certificate via the Professional Registration System (PRS).

Step 1

Have your credit card or eNETS information ready as payment is only by credit cards or eNETS.

Step 2

Log in to your PRS account using Singpass.

Step 3

You are advised to go through your particulars and make the necessary updates (if any) before you proceed to submit your application for the renewal of your Practising Certificate. You can update them by submitting an Update Particulars application under the “Administration” tab on the left menu of the Professional Registration System (PRS).

Note:

  2. For AHPs on full or restricted registration, the fees payable is SGD300 for a 2-year Practising Certificate. The default renewal period is 2 years for AHPs who intend to continue practising in Singapore for more than a year. Should you wish to apply for a 1-year Practising Certificate, please write in to the Council’s Secretariat with your reasons.

  3. If the application for renewal of Practising Certificate is made less than 30 days before the expiry of the existing Practising Certificate, a late application fee of SGD100 will apply (i.e. the total fees payable is SGD380).

  4. An official receipt will be available for download from your account under “enquire application” 5 working days after the payment is made.

Step 4

The Practising Certificate, once approved, can be downloaded from the Professional Registration System.  Please log in to the Professional Registration System, expand “Administration” and click on “View Certificates”.

Note:

The processing time for applications will take approximately 3-4 weeks. Applications which require additional information or documents may take longer to process. AHPs who submit their application for the renewal of Practising Certificate late may not have their application processed on time. If the renewed Practising Certificate is not approved by the expiry date of the existing Practising Certificate, the AHP will be required to stop practice until the renewed Practising Certificate is approved.

AHPs not in active practice in Singapore

Under Section 15(2) of the Allied Health Professions Act (“Act”), the Registrar may remove from the appropriate register the name of a person who has not renewed his Practising Certificate for a continuous period of more than 2 years. AHPs who are not actively practising in Singapore may choose to continue renewing the Practising Certificate to maintain the registration. For AHPs who decide not to renew and to allow their current Practising Certificate to lapse, their names will be kept on the Register for a period of not more than 2 years. Thereafter, their names may be removed from the Register. AHPs who wish to resume active practice in Singapore after having their names removed from the Register will be required to apply for registration and the prevailing registration/supervision requirements would apply.

Future requirements for Practising Certificate renewal

From 1 January 2026, Continuing Professional Education (CPE) will be a requirement for the renewal of Practising Certificate (PC) for all registered AHPs under full and restricted registration. Please refer to the requirements for PC renewal page for more information.
